The 3 Task Types

DoLoop offers three task types to fit your needs.

Schedule

Scheduled Task

A scheduled task is due on the days you set: days of the week, every N days, or a cron expression. On those days, it becomes armed (active) when you press "Fill the todo!".

Example: "Meditation" every day at 9am

Ideal for daily habits at fixed times like waking up, meditating, or taking vitamins.

Loop

Loop Task

A loop task is part of a task rotation. Only one task in the loop is active at a time. Once you've checked or aborted it, your next "Fill the todo!" arms the next task in the loop.

Example: "Cleaning" loop with 7 different rooms, a new room each day

Ideal for large tasks you want to break down into small daily portions.

Subtask

Subtask

A subtask is armed together with its parent task, every N completions of the parent task.

Example: "Change sheets" every 2 completions of "Clean bedroom"

Ideal for less frequent tasks linked to a regular task.

How Loops Work

Loops are at the heart of DoLoop. They allow you to spread a large task into small manageable portions.

Simple Rotation Mode

In this mode, the loop advances one task each time you press "Fill the todo!", once the active task has been checked or aborted. No cron needed.

How it works

1

You create a loop with multiple tasks

2

Only one task is active at a time

3

Once you've checked or aborted it, your next arming pass arms the next one

4

After the last one, it goes back to the first

Task 1Task 2Task 3...

Scheduled Mode

In this mode, the loop only moves on certain days: days of the week, every N days, or a cron expression for advanced cases. On those days, pressing "Fill the todo!" arms the next task in the rotation.

How it works

1

You pick the loop's days: days of the week, every N days, or cron (advanced)

2

On those days, your arming pass arms the next task

3

You control precisely when tasks become active

Every 14 days

Every 2 weeks from the start date, month ends included. A missed day doesn't shift the cycle.

Practical Examples

Here are some concrete examples to inspire you.

Weekly Cleaning Routine

Instead of cleaning everything on Saturday, clean one room per day.

  • Monday: Kitchen
  • Tuesday: Living room
  • Wednesday: Bathroom
  • Thursday: Bedroom 1

Exercise Program

Alternate muscle groups for a balanced workout.

  • Day 1: Upper body
  • Day 2: Cardio
  • Day 3: Lower body

  • Day 5: Full body

Result: A varied program without having to think about it!

Language Learning

Vary exercises to progress on all fronts.
